A new range of rodenticides has been launched at the Australian pest manager’s event AEPMA. The four new professional bait formulations from Sorex, based on a new active ingredient for this market, significantly extend the country’s rodent control armoury.
The Ratak Pro range is based on the active ingredient difenacoum, a highly potent second generation anticoagulant invented by Sorex. Difenacoum already has a proven track record of use in the professional sector throughout Europe, and has been brought to Australia by Sorex – world leaders in rodenticide technology.
“Difenacoum is highly efficacious against most strains of rats and mice, including those resistant to first generation anticoagulant baits,” explains Sorex International’s Peter May. “It has been developed for the Professional Pest Manager as four new bait products, Ratak Pro Blocks, Ratak Pro Pellets and including two innovative formulations Ratak Pro Paste and Ratak Pro Gel,” he says. “This is the first time a full menu of formulations has been launched, allowing the technician to match the rodent control treatment to the situation, however difficult.”
Peter explains that the Ratak Pro Blocks deliver enhanced palatability by combining high cereal content with flavour enhancers and a lower level of wax than most other blocks. “The Ratak Pro Pellets are based on non-waxed, high quality food ingredients, and bring new coated pellet technology to the market.
“The paste and gel treatments extend the bait options,” adds Peter. “Ratak Pro Paste is a non-grain based bait presented in non-spill 15g units. It delivers enhanced palatability and may be used for indoor or outdoor control programmes.
“Ratak Pro Gel allows fast and controlled bait placement making it ideal for baiting above head height,” he says. “It also eliminates clean-up problems associated with loose grain or block fragments and sticks to the surface where it is applied, minimising the risk of environmental contamination. They complement the block and pellet formulations that complete the range with palatability, efficacy and quality the key features.”
Sorex have a world-wide reputation for product quality and technical expertise, and promote best practice baiting using a systematic approach that includes surveying and mapping a site prior to baiting and following up treatment with regular inspections and removal of bait at the end of a campaign.
