Finally got around to following up Matt's suggestion concerning Empire 20 as probably the best BB treatment due to it's AI Chlorpyrifos. Matt said you have a product with the same AI, so how does it compare for price and formulation type ? I assume it will still disappear at the end of the year unless you propose to support it under the BPD though. Any info on any Organophosphorous products would be much apreciated. Interestingly I saw this AI in an ammateur use product for Ants in a local garden centre which surprised me (or perhaps it didn't).

Master ME is a 22.7%(250g/l) microencapsulated chlorpyrifos formulation. This is stronger than the alternative and it is a world wide used formulation.

Packed in 250ml doseflow bottles so that you can rotate quicker and also rinse out effectively. Also allows effective management of stocks preventing large quantities being disposed of via expensive specialist companies.

The RRP is 12 / 250ml

Chlorpyrifos exists in a number of amateur use products just check out the bluebook for details.

The active substance chlorpyrifos (CAS 2921-88-2) was not supported under the Biocidal Products Directive 98/8/EC (BPD). Therefore all products on the EU market that currently contain chlorpyrifos will be removed by 31st December 2007. From this date it will no longer be legal to sell, supply or store (except for the purpose of disposal) these products.

Thanks helen. If the last date of storage is December 2007 I assume it is illegal to use after that date as well. You say it is a worldwide used formulation so could someone theoretically import it from outside EU and use it beyond that date or will it still be illegal to use within the EU ?

As from Jan 1st 2008 no products containing Chlorpyrifos can be used.

Products could not be imported into EU and used since they would not be registered in the EU and would therefore be illegal.

Thanks Blatta, I thought as much but we have to clutch at straws when the BPD disarms us at every opportunity.
